Native Americans in Nebraska are 3.4 times more likely to be arrested than whites and are incarcerated at higher rates than whites, according to the results of a comprehensive two-year study.

The Minority and Justice Task Force, a group of lawyers, judges, state agency directors and members of the public, took testimony and looked at statistics as part of its research. Most Native Americans felt that they received less fair treatment in the courts than whites.

The report doesn't say why the disparities exist.
