WNBA says Mohegan Tribe doesn't have team yet

FRIDAY, JANUARY 17, 2003 The Women's National Basketball Association disputed a report in a Connecticut paper that the Mohegan Tribe was about to own its professional basketball team. The WNBA confirmed, however, that it was in "serious" talks with the tribe, The New York Times reported. The team would be called the Mohegan Suns, although this is in dispute, and play on the tribe's reservation for most of the season. Get the Story:
