Native and Jewish leaders met in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on Wednesday to improve relations a month after a prominent Aboriginal leader made comments in support of the Nazi Holocaust.

David Ahenakew, a Native leader from Saskatchewan, apologized for his statements. He also resigned from his public positions but is facing a criminal investigation. A reporter's notes from a session in which he made his remarks were seized this week.

To help the communities better understand each other, Native leaders plan to visit Israel and Jewish leaders said they would visit First Nations reserves.
