THURSDAY, JANUARY 9, 2003 A judge in California heard oral arguments on Wednesday in a case testing the application of state election law on tribal governments. The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians contends it doesn't have to comply with the 1974 Political Reform Act. The state Fair Political Practices Commission says the tribe needs to report its campaign contributions, whose dollar amount is put at $8 million by the board. Get the Story:
