Daschle letter on BIA reorganization

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1, 2003 Senator Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota) wrote a letter to Senator Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) on December 23 to protest the reorganization of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Daschle said the plan was unveiled in a questionable manner and that tribal leaders weren't told of a reprogramming request until it was all but approved by Congressional appropriators. He wants to work with Inouye to see if the complaints of tribal leaders can be addressed in the upcoming legislative session. Get the Letter:
