THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2002 Australia's High Court today dismissed a land claim filed by the Yorta Yorta Tribe. The court in a 5-2 decision said the tribe failed to show a continuous cultural claim to 800 square miles in eastern Australia. The decision means the government's won't recognize the tribe's hunting and fishing rights and the right to visit sacred sites in the area. Get the Story:
