City denies services for tribal casino

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2002 An Oklahoma city council voted 3-2 to deny basic utility services to a casino proposed by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. At a council meeting on Monday, a tribal representative asked for water and electric services, and possibly waste services in the future, The Shawnee News-Star reported. The casino would be located on trust land so the city cannot stop development. Get the Story:
