AP reviews Indian vote affidavits

The Associated Press obtained copies of more than 40 affidavits that Republican lawyers collect in the wake of Democrat Senator Tim Johnson's narrow win in South Dakota.

The AP says three affidavits stand out because they allege Democrats offered $10 to Indian voters. One was from a person who said he was offered money while two were from people who reported similar incidents.

State attorney general Mark Barnett, a Republican, plans to investigate those claims. But he has dismissed the others as mere complaints about the day of the November 5 election.

The AP says none of the other affidavits amount to crimes but that they raise questions about what happened that day. They all suggest Democrats were up to no good.
