Snow nominated to run Treasury

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2002 President Bush on Monday nominated the executive of a railroad company as his new Treasury Secretary. John W. Snow, chairman and president of CSX Corp., last served the federal government during the Ford administration. He will be the chief spokesperson for Bush's economic policies, which center on tax cuts. The Department of Treasury is a named defendant in the Indian trust fund lawsuit. It has earned praise from the federal judge overseeing the case and attorneys representing more than 500,000 beneficiaries as having made key improvements over the years. U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth, however, said the department is still in breach of trust to the account holders. Get the Story:
