MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2002 The Bush administration on Friday asked a federal appeals court to set aside three rulings in the Indian trust fund case. The Department of Justice filed a brief in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. It seeks to absolve Secretary of Interior Gale Norton and Indian affairs aide Neal McCaleb of their contempt citation for mishandling the funds of more than 300,000 American Indians. The government also wants to set aside an order appointing Joseph S. Kieffer III as the special master-monitor in the case. Get the Story:
