Natives confront AIDS discrimination

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2002 Navajo community members and leaders held a march and rally in Shiprock, New Mexico, to observe World AIDS Day. The theme of the march was "Stigma and Discrimination." Participants called on an end to discrimination based on sexual orientation and HIV/AIDS status. The march included Pauline Mitchell, the mother of a Navajo teen whose killer bragged that he murdered a gay person. In Alaska, Selina Moose has embarked on her own AIDS education campaign. Her brother is battling the disease and she wants to inform Alaska Natives. Get the Story:
