WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2002 Update: The Associated Press has just reported that Ralph Engelstad died. A University of North Dakota professor who suggested the school be boycotted until its "Fighting Sioux" nickname is dropped has received a nasty letter from a wealthy benefactor who sympathizes with Adolf Hilter. Ralph Engelstad, a UND alumnus, said he would fire English professor Sharon Carson if he ran the school. "I would fire (you), and a few others, so quick you wouldn't know what happened," he wrote, according to a quote of the letter by the Associated Press. "It appears that the inmates are still trying to run the institution." Engelstad donated a $100 million arena to the school that bears his name. He is an unapologetic supporter of UND's "Fighting Sioux" nickname and Indian head logo, which is opposed by Sioux tribes in the area. Get the Story:
