WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2002

The business committee of the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribe of Oklahoma postponed a vote on an agreement to accept the land where the Sand Creek Massacre of 1864 occurred.

The Denver Post reported that Chairman Robert Tabor said the vote was postponed because committee members were busy distributing food for the holidays. Nevertheless, he and other Cheyenne and Arapaho descendants will participate in a special ceremony tomorrow at the site in Colorado where Army forces massacred more than 150 people, mostly children and the elderly.
