THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2002 A bill to extend the life of a South Dakota reservation water project was cleared for President Bush's signature on Wednesday. The Senate authorized the Mni Wiconi Rural Water project to 2008 and with an extra $58.8 million. The money still has to be appropriated in a budget bill, however. The project will bring clean water to 52,000 residents on Lower Brule, Rosebud and Pine Ridge reservations and in a rural community. The House version of the bill passed earlier this year.
