The South Dakota Legislature's State-Tribal Relations Committee is meeting this week to address treatment of Native Americans in the justice system.

A hearing yesterday focused on Indian inmates. Witnesses testified about the over-representation of Native Americans, medical care and religious access.

Today, the panel will look at a preliminary state report that found Native were treated differently at all parts of the criminal justice system, from arrest to trial to incarceration.
