BIA says it is reforming driver policy

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2002 The families of two couples killed by an ex-Bureau of Indian Affairs employee are asking a federal judge to force the agency to reform its driver policies. Gary Larson was in a government vehicle when he struck and killed the couples on January 25. He has a history of drunk driving but the BIA continued to allow him to drive. The BIA has changed its policies since then and is trying to implement them, The Albuquerque Journal. Larson, who worked in New Mexico, has pleaded guilty but is appealing his sentencing. The BIA has been sued for $110 million, in separate lawsuits, for the deaths. Get the Story:
