Voters of the Navajo Nation go to the polls today to elect a new president.

Incumbent Kelsey Begaye faces a strong challenge from Joe Shirley Jr. Begaye, whose running made is vice president Taylor McKenzie, is seeking a second term amid criticism he hasn't done enough to reform the tribe's government and cut down on crime.

Shirley's running mate is Frank Dayish. Critics say their ticket is too pro-industry and cite Dayish's employment as a mining lobbyist.
