Secretary of Interior Gale Norton heads to Alaska today to campaign for gubernatorial candidate and Senator Frank Murkowski (R), The Anchorage Daily News reports.

According to the paper, Murkowski's campaign is paying for the trip. Norton will appear with Murkowski and a cow named Frank that will be auctioned to raise money for the GOP.

Alaska Natives are split on Murkowski's candidacy. Some are supporting Lt. Gov. Fran Ulmer (D).

Due to his Senate seat, Murkowski has a long history of Alaska Native involvement. He is supporting an attempt to regionalize funding to the state's 229 Native governments.
