An activist who opposes the sale of liquor to Native Americans wants a Nebraska state official to publicly apologize for accusing him of paying people money to break the law.

Nebraskans for Peace board member Byron Peterson said Nebraska Liquor Control Commission Chairman Bob Logsdon slandered him. At a recent public meeting, Logsdon said people were paid to buy beer in Whiteclay.

Nebraskans for Peace wants the state to stop liqour sales in Whiteclay because of the impact on Native Americans from the nearby Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. The chairman of the Oglala Lakota Tribe opposes the sales.
