Calif. hit with suit over gaming compact

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2002 Two California tribes sued the state on Monday over a casino compact they say has been handled improperly. The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Mission Indians filed the lawsuit in federal court. It alleges a breach of contract by failing to distribute money to non-gaming tribes on time. It also alleges the state illegally stripped the tribes of the ability to administer and approve slot machine licenses. Get the Story:
