Thune: S.D. vote challenge not my idea

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2002 Challenging the outcome of South Dakota's key senate race due to alleged Indian voter fraud wasn't the idea of Congressman John Thune (R). That's the message Thune's campaign is pitching, according to David Kranz of The Sioux Falls Argus Leader. A reporter raised the question in response to potential cases of fraud involving Democrat efforts to register Indian voters. The initial probe centered on Dewey and Ziebach counties.
