Pequot's Reels won't run for chairman

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2002 Longtime Mashantucket Pequot chairman Kenneth M. Reels won't seek re-election as the Connecticut tribe's leader, The New London Day reports. The paper cites sources close to Reels and says he will make the announcement this week. He will still sit on the tribal council, but not as chairman. Vice chairman Richard A. "Skip" Hayward, who led the tribe from obscurity into financial success, is expected to try and regain the chairman position. Get the Story:
