Sandia Pueblo of New Mexico is seeking additional changes to a bill that settles its outstanding land claim.

But the measure's sponsors, Sens. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) and Pete Domenici, are ready to seek full passage without the additions. They have supported most of the Pueblo's concerns regarding 10,000 acres in the Sandia Mountains.

The tribe contends the land was wrongly excluded from its reservation. The bill extinguishes the claim but grants the Pueblo numerous considerations, including veto power over new development, and jurisdiction over the area.
