Editorial: Sanction Norton's deceit

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2002 "On Tuesday, [U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth] said Norton committed fraud by misrepresenting the department’s efforts to repair the trust. He also said Norton is unfit to serve as the trustee for the Indian funds. Norton says she has devoted more resources to attempting to solve the problem than any previous Interior secretary, and that’s probably true. She may appeal Lamberth’s ruling. Norton and her staff deserve sanctions if they have intentionally deceived the court, as Judge Lamberth claims. . ." Get the Story:
