Sides battle over Ariz. gaming proposals

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2002 With millions in dollars at stake, Arizona racetracks are in an all-out war against the state's tribes. The industry wants to legalize video slot machines to boost ailing racing facilities. Proposition 201 is designed to do that and also authorize Indian gaming. Two competing ballot initiatives are being offered by the tribes. Proposition 202 and Proposition 202 contribute money to state oversight but the racetrack industry claims otherwise. Get the Story:
