DOI claims a partial accounting

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2002 The Department of Interior wants to mail what it claims are historical accountings to Indian beneficiaries. At least 500 are members of the White Mountain Apache Tribe, Gannett News Service reports. The money comes from a judgment fund and was distributed to Individual Indian Money (IIM) accounts. In total, about 8,000 accounts have been reconciled, according to the Interior. But former Special Trustee Tom Slonaker never signed off on them. He was forced to resign his post. Get the Story:
