MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2002 Anchorage police chief Walt Monegan has replaced a top lieutenant and will institute a new communications program in response to the failure to find the home of an Alaska Native executive who was shot to death in August. Glenn Godfrey was the first Alaska Native to head the state troopers and became the state's first public safety commissioner. he was killed in his home on August 3 and his wife was shot. It took police 40 minutes to ask for directions to the home. Monegan is the first Alaska Native police chief in Anchorage. Get the Story:
