WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2002 A man already convicted of murdering a Navajo woman must be prosecuted for other crimes, The Farmington Daily-Times writes in an editorial today. The paper says some critics might question the use of taxpayer funds to fight Robert Ray Fry. He was found guilty and sent to death row for killing Betty Lee, a Navajo mother of five. A potential appeal of that conviction is one reason to prosecute Fry of three other deaths, the paper writes. "Prosecuting Fry for the double homicide and the 1998 beating and choking death of Donald Tsosie, [a Navajo man], must be done for the good of the families and the community as a whole," the paper states.
