Editorial: Norton needs 'soul-searching'

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2002 Secretary of Interior Gale Norton needs to so some serious "soul-searching" on the presence of snowmobiles in national parks and monuments, The New York Times writes in an editorial today. The paper praises Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christie Whitman for requiring the machines to reduce pollution. "Snowmobiles are especially dirty," the paper writes. Norton reversed a ban on the machines this year, the paper says. Get the Story:
