Conn. Gov: No more Indian casinos

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2002 In a move immediately criticized as political pandering, Connecticut Gov. John Rowland (R) for the first time said he was opposed to additional tribal casinos in the state. Rowland has been openly supportive of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe. Both own casinos. Now he says there is no need for additional facilities. At least three tribes are pursuing development pending their final federal recognition. Get the Story:
