Ariz. tribes see benefits of gaming

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2002 Two small Arizona tribes saw income of tribal members rise over the past decade, thanks to gaming. The median income for households on the Yavapai-Prescott Reservation grew from $51,000 from about $23,000. Income on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Reservation jumped to 50,000 from $18,000. Despite the gains, the median family income for Native Americans is $26,026. The state's largest tribe, the Navajo Nation, does not allow gaming. Other tribes are larger and the impact on income is not as great. Get the Story:
