THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2002

The Jena Choctaw Tribe of Louisiana is working with Gov. Mike Foster to find a suitable land base.

The tribe was recognized by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1994. It doesn't have a reservation.

The tribe plans to open a casino on land it acquires. It has sought parcels in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Foster wrote a letter to the Department of Interior seeking guidance on the land issue.
