Lumbee woman gets closer to Miss America

FRIDAY, AUGUST 30, 2002 A judge in North Carolina temporarily reinstated the state beauty title to a member of the Lumbee Tribe. Rebekah Chantay Revels won the state crown but was stripped of it after an ex-boyfriend alleged possession of topless photos of her. The photos were never seen but state pageant officials and Miss America officials decided she should be thrown out of the contest. Get the Story:
