MONDAY, AUGUST 26, 2002 A company that wants to operate a hog farm on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation has asked the Supreme Court to intervene. Sun Prairie, a Nebraska company, had gained approval to operate the farm. But the Bureau of Indian Affairs voided the lease, saying it violated environmental laws. The company sued but the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the BIA's action. The court said Sun Prairie didn't have standing. Sun Prairie wants this ruling overturned. Separately, the company filed another lawsuit against the federal government and the tribe. Get the Story:
