Mohawk casino lawsuit dismissed

FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2002 A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit affecting an off-reservation casino proposed by the St. Regis / Akwesasne Mohawk Tribe of New York. The tribe's traditional three chief government partnered with Park Place Entertainment to build a $500 million casino in the Catskills. A rival tribal group had joined with Catskills Development. Catskills subsequently filed suit against Park Place. The case was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon. Get the Story:
