WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2002 The Bureau of Land Management on Monday approved an oil-drilling project in the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument in Colorado. The decision allows seismic testing on more than 12,700 acres. Thumper trucks will pound the ground in search of oil. The monument was once home to Puebloan tribes who lived there up 1300 A.D. The area is rich in Indian sites and artifacts. Get the Story:
