Neb. tribal gaming vote delayed

THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 2002 The Nebraska Legislature's General Affairs Committee on Wednesday delayed a vote on a proposal to allow up to nine tribal casinos. Lawmakers said they wanted a legal opinion on whether the amendment falls within the special session called by Gov. Mike Johanns. The proposal would allow Nebraska's four tribes to open casinos on their reservations or trust lands. It also authorizes up to five casinos along borders with states that allow similar gaming. Another proposal would allow video slot machines in bars, restaurants, race tracks and keno parlors throughout the state. Get the Story:
