"In some of the small, family-owned North Dakota and Minnesota restaurants and cafes, you can find excellent food and friendly people. I found one such restaurant last weekend.

I was returning home after a funeral for a longtime friend. After that time of sadness, my daughter and I wanted to get back to Grand Forks early Sunday. So, I decided to take a shortcut through the middle of the state.

The first time I took a shortcut through the state's middle, I got lost and took two hours longer. This time I had a co-pilot, but I think we turned too soon because we ended up on several miles of gravel that nearly disappeared at times. . ."
