Report: DOE to help derail Goshute nuclear

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10, 2002 Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham will help the state of Utah kill a proposed nuclear waste dump on the Skull Valley Goshute Reservation, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Utah Sens. Bob Bennett and Orrin Hatch, voted yesterday to approve the Yucca Mountain facility in Nevada. They told the paper they based their support on a pledge by Abraham against the tribal site. The tribe hopes to store up to 44,000 tons of waste on the reservation. Get the Story:
