Connecticut's two federally recognized tribes have reduced contributions to political campaigns, The Norwich Bulletin reports.

The paper cites the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan group which compiles election and other spending. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation fell from first in soft money contributions during the 1997-98 campaign cycle to 11th during 1999-2000, according to the figures.

For the current cycle, the tribe ranks ninth but with less contributions. The Mohegan Tribe dropped from sixth in 1997-98 to somewhere in the top 15 during 1999-2000, falling out of that group for the current cycle.
