Maine residents vote down tribal casino

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 2002 Several Maine towns on Tuesday rejected a proposed tribal casino. Voters in Eliot, Kennebunk, North Berwick, Ogunquit and Wells passed non-binding referendums against a casino. Results from Kittery and Wiscasset were not reported by The Portland Press Herald. The Penobscot Nation and the Passamaquoddy Tribe brought up the casino this spring. They shelved the idea this year and plan to push the issue next year. Get the Story:
