Navajo trust fund case moves forward

TUESDAY, JUNE 11, 2002 A class action suit alleging mismanagement of Navajo trust funds is proceeding in federal court in Utah. U.S. District Judge Tena Campbell recently allowed a new set of plaintiffs to represent 8,500 tribal members after three of the original five died. The son of one original plantiff was substituted and five additional were added. The case is unusual because Congress designated the state of Utah the trustee of oil royalties from Navajo land.
