Two federal agencies on Monday issued a revised biological opinion on a project to dredge the Columbia River to make way for bigger ships.

The National Marine Fisheries Service evaluated the impacts on 12 runs of salmon and sea lions. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service looked at deer, bald eagles and two species of trout.

In both instances, the agencies said the project will not impact the species.

The biological opinion recommends the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fisheries Commission be involved in the $196 million project. Congress still would have to approve money and the states of Washington and Oregon need to sign off on the plan.
