Anti-abortion tactics ruled illegal

FRIDAY, MAY 17, 2002 A full panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday ruled that incendiary tactics of anti-abortion activists are unconstitutional. The 6-5 vote upholds a federal jury ruling which found that a group called American Coalition of Life Activists (ACLA) violated a law which forbids threats against abortion providers. The group creates "Wanted" posters and maintained a controversial web site which urged the killing of abortion providers. As doctors on the list were killed, their names were grayed or crossed out. A three-judge panel last March had overturned the ruling by the Oregon jury. A rehearing was held for the full court. Get the Story:
