THURSDAY, MAY 16, 2002 Three Kansas tribes are hosting a wellness conference at Haskell Indian Nations University. "Wellness Journey 2002" began yesterday and included a forum on boarding school syndrome. Participants recalled some of the negative aspects of voluntary and involuntary schooling, such as physical and mental abuse and loss of culture. A ceremony was held at the school's cemetery to remember students who died. The conference runs through Friday. Get the Story:
