Lemhi Shoshonis share Lewis and Clark experiences
Monday, January 26, 2004

The Lemhi Shoshone people are getting a chance to tell their side of the story at the Lewis and Clark National Bicentennial Exhibition.

Tribal members are featured in two films in the exhibit. One is a documentary about Lewis and Clark's encounter with the tribe. Sacajawea, a member of the expedition, was Lemhi Shoshone.

The tribe was promised a reservation in 1875 but it was rescinded due to non-Indian lobbying. The tribe is seeking federal recognition.
