Family settles wrongful death suit against BIA

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has reached a settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit involving an ex-employee who was drinking on the job.

Gary Larson pleaded guilty to four counts of second-degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years for killing two couples. He was driving a BIA vehicle when it rammed into the couples' car on a highway in New Mexico.

The family of one of the couples reached the settlement. The terms have yet to be disclosed.

Larson has appealed the sentence he received.
