Mont. tribe studying ethanol plant and feedlot
Wednesday, December 3, 2003

The Fort Belknap Tribe of Montana hope to create 300 jobs and stimulate the local economy with an ethanol plant and feedlot.

The plant would produce 20 million gallons of ethanol a year. A plant byproduct called grain mash would be used to feed cattle at the feedlot. Manure from the cattle would be used to power the ethanol plant.

The tribe needs to raise $150,000 to study the proposal. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a $50,000 grant to help fund the feasibility.
