Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) is releasing a $45 million plan to clean up the Tar Creek Superfund site in northeastern Oklahoma.

The site contains more than 70 millions tons of mine waste known as chat, which can lead to health problems, particularly in children. According to the Associated Press, the plan doesn't include hauling chat but calls for other measures.

Most of the land affected is owned by individual Indians, mostly members of the Quapaw Tribe.
