Columbia River tribes seek more studies of fish

Last year, the Environmental Protection Agency released a report that identified 92 dangerous cancer-causing chemicals found in fish in the Columbia River basin. The four tribes with treaty rights on the basin are now working on additional studies to determine the extent of the problem and keep tribal members informed. Tribal leaders don't want to tell people to stop fishing, a central part of tribal culture. The Warm Springs, Umatilla, Yakama, and Nez Perce tribes have fishing rights in the basin. Get the Story:
